My modern practice for Psychiatry & Psychotherapy offers the full breadth of psychological and biological treatments.

My core training has been in CBT - cognitive behavioral therapy - which I practice mostly implicitly by suggesting new approaches to every-day life and its potentials, and by using emotional and relational extensions.

Every encounter starts with a thorough psychological and also philosophical exploration and psychological approaches are given precedence where they can resolve one or more issues.

For slight to severe more biologically entrenched or caused disturbances I recommend a holistic approach which acknowledges the systemic often immunological nature of dys-ease, and the role of somatic health for mental salutogenesis.

Rational Psychopharmacology has strong healing and protective effects, which are not sufficiently recognized by the public opinion. Medication therefore should often be given a chance, but certainly not obstinately pursued where there is no sufficient effect, but rather changed or stopped. Combination treatments have proven very valuable and more effective, albeit at the price of an increase of untoward effects. Patients, who are the only true experts for themselves, need to know about both benefits and risks of medication in order to take their personal decisions. Psychoeducation therefore is an essential part of any therapy.

In all this it doesn't sound nice to be a "guinea pig", but it's actually often the best way to be aware of what one is doing while testing a psychotropic upon oneself. Correct medication often doubles the efficacy of psychotherapy and therefore both should be allowed to enhance one another.

Albeit seemingly quite impersonal, evaluation scales asking for symptoms have proven superior in monitoring mental health care than "just" plain notes. Disturbances in fact seem to be less complicated than healthy persons!
